Azimuth is a relatively new company in the world of luxury watches. Founded in 2003, it is a fast-expanding watch company whose product innovation has fast tracked them to stand among giants. At this years Baselworld, Azimuth is presenting their very first Twin Barrel Tourbillon. The design of the watch follows in the footsteps of several brands before them, by finding inspiration from another luxury item - cars, or what Azimuth has called "hard core contemporary super cars." This is best seen in they silhouette of their case design, which echos that of a sports car. The case measuring 50 mm x 45 mm x 25 mm is cut from a solid block of Titanium and adorned with plates of carbon fiber fitted into the sides as well as the back of the case, making it ultra lightweight. The face of the watch is protected by a double domed sapphire crystal, giving an added dimension to the case.

The massive Tourbillon mechanism which is visible at the 6 o’clock position contains a KIF shock absorption system which acts as the “suspension” for the balance staff and cage. The Tourbillon Center Bridge is plated in Black Gold with the aim of giving it a more sporting feel. The hand wound movement beats at 28,800 VPH and has a 120 hour power reserve. The case is complimented by a special Interwoven black fiber Strap. The watch is to be produced as a limited edition of just 25 pieces and should become available June of 2009.
